Soft Enamel makes the best pin for the dollar for several reasons. They are 1.2mm thick and struck like a coin, making them thick, heavy and are more valuable than the 0.8mm photo etched or printed styles.
Soft Enamel trades much better because of this. They are usually about the same price as the thinner, less popular photo etched or printed styles. It isn't worth trying to save a few pennies only to have pins your kids can't get anyone to trade them for!

Order Early
Make sure you order as early as you can. This will ensure that your trading pins arrive with plenty of time to spare in the event of shipping problems or factory backups that may cause an unforeseen delay. This way no matter what, they'll be in your kids’ hands when the trading begins!
Order Enough
A quick way to determine how many pins you will need to order is to multiply the number of players on your team by the number of teams that will be attending the tournament. For example: 12 players on your team x 40 teams competing = 480 pins. Don't forget extras for siblings, parents and friends!
